Activity Description

Cisgender women comprised 19% of new HIV infections in the United States in 2018, and 85% of the diagnoses were attributed to heterosexual contact. However, HIV testing rates remain low among cisgender women with reported risk factors, and 1 in 9 women with HIV are unaware of their status. Additionally, cisgender women with HIV face unique challenges related to starting antiretroviral therapy (ART), side effects, family planning, and pregnancy.

Using didactics and clinical cases, this free interactive CME/CNE-Certified webinar will provide guidance for the members of the HIV team as they care for Cisgender women by reviewing:
  1. Clinical data on cis-gender women living with HIV
  2. Management of antiretroviral therapy in women of child-bearing potential
  3. Gynecologic care of women living with HIV
  4. Care of pregnant women who present and are taking antiretroviral therapy
  5. Management of women living with HIV in the United States who desire to breastfeed

Learning Objectives
After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to:
  • Work with your HIV team to incorporate resources and expert guidance for managing cisgender women in order to improve sexual health and HIV outcomes
  • Select optimal HIV treatment regimens based on most current treatment guideline recommendations, including pregnancy
  • Integrate shared decision-making and patient counseling in treatment selection to ensure optimal adherence and patient satisfaction
