ACTHIV® ChangeMakers is a leadership development program for experienced HIV clinicians and care team members who are ready to expand their impact beyond individual patient care.
Through a nine-month, cohort-based learning experience, participants strengthen leadership skills, develop implementation science and quality improvement competencies, and lead a real-world improvement initiative within their own practice setting.
Supported by a faculty mentor and a collaborative community of peers, ChangeMakers equips participants to transform ideas into meaningful improvements in HIV prevention and care.
Every experienced HIV clinician recognizes opportunities to improve care.
Few receive formal training in how to turn those opportunities into sustainable change.
ACTHIV® ChangeMakers was created to bridge that gap.
Through an interactive learning collaborative, participants develop practical leadership skills while learning how to design, implement, evaluate, and sustain meaningful improvements within their own clinical settings.
The result is more than professional development—it is an opportunity to improve care for patients, strengthen your organization, and grow as a leader within the HIV care community.
Unlike traditional continuing education, ChangeMakers combines leadership development with practical application.
Participants learn alongside a small national cohort of experienced HIV professionals while receiving mentorship from expert faculty and collaborating with peers facing similar opportunities and challenges.
Learning is intentionally interactive, giving participants opportunities to receive feedback, refine ideas, and share lessons learned throughout the program.
At the heart of ChangeMakers is an Action Learning Project—a real-world initiative designed to improve HIV prevention or care within your own practice setting.
Rather than learning about leadership in theory, participants apply what they learn by identifying a meaningful opportunity for improvement, developing and implementing a practical solution, evaluating outcomes, and sharing lessons learned.
Throughout the program, faculty mentors provide guidance while participants receive feedback and encouragement from their peers.
Participants are invited to submit posters highlighting the outcomes of their projects to the ACTHIV® Annual Conference, allowing participants to share their work with the broader HIV care community.
Participants leave ChangeMakers with practical experience leading meaningful change—not simply new knowledge.

These relationships often continue well beyond the formal learning experience, creating a growing network of HIV professionals committed to advancing care through leadership, collaboration, and innovation.

Participants who successfully complete this free program may earn up to 18.0 hours of CME/CNE/CPE credit.

The ACTHIV® Changemakers 2026-2027 activity has two components: an enduring material (self-study completed on your own time) and a live component (scheduled for 8/28/26; 9/25/26; 10/30/26; 11/20/26; 12/18/26; 1/22/27 that will take place as virtual meetings). Physicians who complete both parts can earn a maximum of 18.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. American Academy of CME, Inc. designates this enduring material for a maximum of 18.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Applications are reviewed in August each year to create an interprofessional cohort of experienced HIV professionals who are committed to improving HIV prevention and care within their organizations and communities.
